PLEASE CLICK IMAGE TO VIEW - FINE AND VERY RARE 6 SHOT PEPPERBOX REVOLVER BY DEVISME A PARIS : 7MM CENTRE-FIRE(DEVISME) - with 6 shot rifled plain blued cylinder with Liege proof, colour case hardened frame with top break opening system with catch, top strap marked in script 'DEVISME A PARIS', bead fore-sight, colour case hardened back strap and butt, folding trigger, extractor rod with bulbous base retained in the butt cavity and two pice chequered walnut grips. Superb condition aesthetically and functionally retaining good finish throughout, action very tight and very good rifled bores. The revolver is of very sturdy construction and is significantly larger/weightier and of vastly superior quality to those other pepperbox revolvers of similar type manufactured in this era. 15cm overall.
Louis-Francois Devisme born July 1806 and was apprentised in Paris to the famous Jean-Louis Deboubert who was during the Empire a compagion of the famous Boutet Manufacturer at Versailles. He established probably the most famous retailing establishment in Paris at 36 Boulevard des Italiens and supplied weapons to the rich and famous in Paris, France and throughout the world and his weapons were exhibited at the famous Cristal Palace exhibition in 1851, along with Samuel Colt and others. Mainly aiming at the hunting market he aslo commisioned high quality personal defense weapons and pairs of cased duelling pistols. His weapons were the weapons to own amongst the rich and famous and in many ways he paved the way for those who followed such as Chamelot and Delvigne.
