manufactured circa 1899 with a five digit serial number, the last digit struck out, nickel-plated 6 1/2in. barrel, the top-rib signed 'SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS USA', blade fore-sight, adjustable blade rear-sight, break-open nickel-plated frame with fluted 1 7/16in. long cylinder, plated hammer and trigger-guard, chequered hard-rubber grips and plain trigger-guard, no provision for shoulder-stock. In excellent condition and with virtually 100% finish, tight action and original undamaged hard rubber grips. The barrel very clean and near mirror with clearly visible rifling and some wear, very clean chambers. Lock up tight with good indexation and no play at all in the closing mechanism. A very good example in this rare small caliber.
This revolver if virtually identical to the .44 Smith and Wesson Russian revolver but shoots the smaller 32-44 target round.
