PLEASE CLICK IMAGE TO VIEW - A FINE BOHEMIAN 28-BORE PERCUSSION SPORTING TARGET RIFLE, mid-19th century, with 29 1/2in. heavy swamped octagonal twist barrel inlaid with gold and silver lines at the muzzle and breech, gold arrows around the fore-sight, and with a spray of gold and silver foliage at the breech, bead fore-sight with protectors, rear-sight of one standing and two folding leaves with scroll engraved mount, breech inlaid with further gold and silver decoration and with false fences on the left side, large scroll engraved tang with gold-inlaid sunburst and vignette involving a gold-inlaid recumbent stag, the tang fitted with a windage and elevation adjustable scroll engraved aperture sight, lock with safety-stop and profusely engraved with scrollwork heightened by gold foliage and flower-heads, the tail of the lock engraved with a landscape inhabited by a gold-inlaid hind, figured walnut full stock with chequered grip and fore-end, raised cheek-piece carved in relief with a hunting scene, set triggers, finely engraved iron mounts including scrolled trigger-guard decorated on the bow with a scene involving a gold-inlaid hunter and his silver-inlaid hound, sprung hinged patchbox-cover (release button at fault) with a large cartouche decorated with a woodland scene involving a gold-inlaid boar being attacked by gold- and silver-inlaid hounds, and pierced scroll engraved side-plate heightened with gold and inhabited by a hound and a mythical bird, iron sling mounts, and original brass-mounted ramrod. In excellent condition throughout with good rifled bore. A very fine piece.
